1. Use black eyeliner: Sharp pencil liners, gels or creams (with a brush) and liquid formulas all work.

2. Glide a thin line in one fluid motion along lashes from inner corner to just past outer corner, moving up slightly at the end.

2. Starting at inner corner of each brow, apply color using light strokes. Fill in so brows are the same width across (about 1⁄4 to 1⁄3 inch), tapering toward ends.

3. For maintenance, tweeze only the area under your filled-in shape so your brows will naturally grow in fuller over time.

The modern take pairs a matte or satin-finish red lip with neutral, light hues for cheeks and eyes.

To get the look:

2. With a matching lipliner, trace the outline of your lips, then fill them in to prevent bleeding and help lipstick last.
