Let's get one thing straight: Kim Kardashian's makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, doesn't endorse her tendency to sleep in her makeup, but he gets that it happens—to the best of us. And if you're going to break the cardinal rule of beauty, you might as well do it right.

Here, we had Kiki's go-to guy break down his tips and tricks for rocking a full face during your slumber so that your second-day contour is on point.

Set your makeup with loose powder

"It will help it last longer," explains Dedivanovic, adding that while there are many setting sprays on the market that help keep makeup in place, he's not partial to them. Per his masterclass with Kardashian, Bobbi Brown's Sheer Finish Loose Powder is his go-to for a matte finish.

Skip your normal skin care routine

As important as moisturizer, face oils, and eye creams are on the regular, skip 'em if you're trying to preserve a full face. "It will ruin the makeup," says Dedivanovic. To this end, prepping the skin before makeup by moisturizing is nonnegotiable for a long-lasting, healthy-looking glow.

Sleep on a silk pillowcase

Dedivanovic is all about the Night™ Pillow, which promises ever-coveted JBF, aka just-been-f–ked, skin sans the whole Netflix 'n' Chill song-and-dance. By now you're well-versed in the powers of the silk pillowcase, but Night's engineered Trisilk cover takes it next-level by hydrating skin cells, fighting breakouts by repelling pollutants, and wicking absorption of your precious Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronzer. Plus, "it is the softest pillow I have ever felt," he adds.

Lie mummy style...if you can manage

You're naturally going to be more thoughtful about how you sleep when you've got your beat face to protect. "Sleep on your back and don't move your head, " laughs Dedivanovic. But seriously, pay attention to your most vulnerable areas.

Sleeping mummy style is a tough habit to get into, but think about it like this: Squishing your face into a pillow is like ironing wrinkles into the skin in the long run. And Kim Kardashian doesn't do wrinkles.

Refresh your makeup in the A.M.

Dedivanovic has a two-step plan for reviving and perking up your skin.

1. "Spray Tatcha's Dewy Skin Mist over the face," he says. The milky emulsion will soothe, hydrate, and give your complexion a luminous boost.

2. "Use a damp beautyblender to press and bounce on the skin to freshen up and even it out," he explains.

Don't wear the same face of makeup for more than 18 hours

"I work with clients who sometimes work 16- or 18-hour days, so sometimes it's necessary to have it on for long periods of time, but I would recommend letting the skin breathe without any makeup on [after that],"  explains Dedivanovic. So yeah, #FreeYourPores.
