It may look laid-back, but Gigi Hadid's wispy, swingy pony requires a few tricks. Hadid's hairstylist Kenna breaks it down for us.

Get salty

Amp up your texture by spritzing 10-12 squirts of salt spray (Evo Salty Dog Beach Cocktail Spray is Kenna's go-to) on dry hair. "This will give your hair the rough texture that will hold your pony up," he explains.

Use your fingers instead of a comb

Smooth, pin-straight strands do not a messy pony make. Embrace the tangles and use your fingers to rake back and gather your hair to the crown, says Kenna. Remember: A bit of oomph on the top of the head elongates the face.

Keep your chin up

When creating your ponytail, it's essential to tie it at the right angle. If your head is slung over when you secure it, it will be *too* loose around the neck area.

"Gigi raises her chin to prevent any bagginess at the nape," he explains.

Toss your hair tie

And use a hair bungee! "Hook one of the ends in the hair at the ponytail base and bind round towards your scalp," he says. "Then, hook the other end to the first end for total control."

Wrap hair around the base

To conceal the bungee and/or add polish to your pony, wrap a thin piece of hair around its base and set it. "Using hair spray 1/2 an inch away, dampen the piece, then use a hairdryer on low heat and watch it dry hard in seconds."
