Over 21 years after her death, Selena Quintanilla-Pérez remains one of the most vibrant, beautiful, and influential artists of our time. The singer, songwriter, spokeswoman, actress, and fashion designer was a woman unlike any other; and when cosmetics company MAC announced last year they would be releasing a collection in her honor, fans around the world rejoiced at the prospect of such a perfect homage to the beloved superstar.

While the collection doesn't come out until later this year (WOMP), on Tuesday, MAC revealed the first image from the collection: A photograph of Selena-red lipstick in a bright purple tube with her signature stamped across the front.

It may not seem like much, but for any true Selena fan, the photo is definitive proof that the collaboration is well worth the wait.

"I wanted the colors to be about her personally, what she wore on and offstage," Suzette Quintanilla, Selena's sister, told PeopleStyle. "She has been gone for 21 years already, and for this collaboration to happen, it's pretty much incredible. It just shows the love her fan base has even though she's gone; that her music still lives on and her legacy has grown tremendously since she's passed. It's a great honor to have MAC collaborate with Selena's name and her fans — for her fans."

The Selena x MAC collections drops October 2016.
