Imagine eating healthier without changing a thing about your meal. No cutting portions, no adding vegetables, just enjoying you food–even the greasy stuff–as-is. All you'd have to do is change your china.

Advertising company BBDO Bangkok has teamed up with the Thai Health Promotion foundation to create the AbsorbPlate, their answer to the country's stir-fry and deep-fry-heavy cuisine (Thailand has the second-highest obesity rate in Southeast Asia).

Inspired by the surface of a sponge, the plate contains 500 holes that sucks up oil from a meal. It can soak up 7ml of oil, about 30 calories, per meal. Consider it the more high-tech version of sopping up your pizza slice with a napkin–might not be much, but still makes you feel just a liiitttle better.

It's not available for purchase and may just exist in the minds of the advertisers, SIGH, but it's a pretty neat idea. If a self-twirling spaghetti fork can exist, surely this can be reality one day?
