How much of your outer beauty depends on your inner sensibility? Way more than even cynics might expect. At Dior's spring 2017 show, identical twins Ruth and May Bell wore the exact same makeup look—and still looked like two special snowflakes on the runway.

True, Ruth has close-cropped blonde hair, while May's goes past her shoulder blades. But that can't account for how the British duo made makeup artist Peter Philips' dewy look their own. (The breakdown: Forever & EverWear Makeup Base Primer, which acts like "a double stick tape" to hold foundation and moisturizer on skin, plus DiorSkin Foundation, Nude Air Color Gradation in Rising Pink, and the always-sold-out Lip Glow Pomade.)

Even with identical products on identical faces, May and Ruth looked eerily different, as if Peter Pan and Wendy both scored their own couture lines. While pink blush hit May's cheeks with a sweet floral glow, it made Ruth's sly smile appear to double in strength. And though both 20-year-olds have faucet-blue eyes, May's turned a stormy gray against Dior's pearly nude shadow, while Ruth's irises seemed to get even more blue.

We can blame it on the lighting. We can blame it on the outfits, the accessories, or even what the girls had for breakfast. (Backstage catering included fruit, cereal, yogurt, OJ, and giant bowls of fresh penne pasta, if that makes a difference. Also: two fridges packed end-to-end with Coke Zero.) But the fact is, these girls are literally two parts of the same whole—and yet, in the most minimal, translucent makeup possible, they somehow looked like creatures from neighboring galaxies... not the same uterus.

"But you know how different we are," laughed Ruth backstage before the show (which she opened, thank you very much...). "I love the pace of this job, all the different people, the strangeness, all the different ways to make something stylish... and May won't even call herself a model."

She might have to start soon—we hear the two will be featured in an upcoming shoot that's just j'adorable. Hint. Hint.
