According to social commerce site Polyvore, Instagram's matte lip army, aka the "Kylie Jenner Effect," is very real. Polyvore published its annual report evaluating data from its 20 million monthly active users and listed Kylie as most influential in both fashion and beauty trends of 2016.

Although M.A.C took the top spot as the most popular beauty brand searched, there's no denying Kylie's constantly sold-out lipsticks had a hand in the 553% increase in searches for "nude lipstick" and 267% increase in searches for "matte lipstick." Both were popular across the country, with "nude lipstick" or "matte lipstick" ranking in the top searches everywhere–New York, Miami, Seattle, Los Angeles, and more.
