It was a fast and furious love affair between DHC's Super Collagen Mist and I, quickly skyrocketing the spray to the top spot in my skincare regimen. No other collagen mists I've tried can hold a candle to this one!
For those of you who are not yet as obsessive about collagen as I am, let me first tell you why you need it in your life. We're all born with an ample supply of this essential protein, but once you hit your 30th birthday, your collagen levels start to deteriorate by 1-2% with each passing year. As collagen levels decrease, wrinkles increase, and your skin starts to lose its baby-soft luster. To reverse this process and cling to your most youthful-looking skin, you can drink collagen smoothies, swallow collagen supplements, topically apply collagen sprays and creams, or all of the above.
While I admit I have dabbled in all forms of collagen intake to preserve my skin, I can honestly say I've seen the most dramatic results after using the DHC Super Collagen Mist. My skin looks and feels hydrated and healthy. It boosts moisture levels, lessens the appearance of my fine lines and acne scars, and creates an overall glow almost instantly. Seriously!
Most skincare products, as effective as they may be, take forever to showcase a visible difference. But my latest love provides results you can see immediately, hydrating and plumping the skin for a fresh, supple appearance.
While it looks (and feels) like magic, there is a ton of science behind it. DHC’s research and development labs in Japan were determined to maximize the benefits of conventional collagen, so they developed their own. The DHC scientists patented dipeptide-8, a skin-firming collagen molecule that is smaller than traditional collagen molecules. It allows the collagen to instantly absorb to deliver maximum hydration. The mist is also formulated with trehalose, which further promotes moisture retention.
The brand recommends applying the Super Collagen Mist after cleansing your face and before applying your toner, which I agree with. I also think it works wonders as a makeup-setting spray, or whenever you need a little pick-me-up. I have some stashed on my vanity in my apartment, a bottle floating in my Mary-Poppins-bag of a purse, and there is some sitting across from my keyboard at work as I type this.
The ultra fine mist was the missing piece in the trifecta that is my collagen addiction. (As I mentioned, I am also a firm believer in other forms of collagen, including supplements and collagen creams.)
Will I ever love another mist as much as this one? Only time will tell. Until then, my hydrated skin and I will continue to hoard bottles of Super Collagen Mist.
