Here's where our editors share what they're obsessing over now!

When I was a kid, my mom would spend well over an hour in a single session, separating my thick, long locks into sections, twisting my hair around velcro rollers. I can still remember her jerking my head around, sliding the bobby pins (two per each roller) against my sensitive scalp. Before each curl was set, there was mousse, gel, and after? Hairspray — and lots of it.

After I hit my 13th birthday, if I wasn't using the tried-and-true method my mama taught me, I wasn't rocking curls that looked silky and bouncy for hours. Whether I used my first Conair clamp-style hot tool or my fiery-hot curling wand, I knew I still wasn't mastering the full-bodied curls I dreamed of. Honestly, if I was in a rush or not being super careful, the clamp-style curler would leave a pesky little dent in my hair and the wand would sometimes leave a fake "hickey" burn on my neck. Ladies, you know exactly what I mean ...

It wasn't until recently when I heard about the CHI Lava Ceramic Pro Spin N Curl that my lifelong #hairgoals became a reality.

The CHI Lava Ceramic Pro Spin N Curl is a hair tool that's been used behind the scenes at Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants. And even though I wish this was some well-kept secret only I know about, the CHI Lava is already getting tons of attention on Instagram. How it works: You slip a small section of dry hair into the mouth (it kind of looks like a blooming tulip!) and press either of the two arrow buttons in the direction you want the tool to spin, or curl your hair. The tool will whip the hair right around the center and then layer on the heat. And no, it won't get tangled! If you feed too much hair into the tool, it will stop spinning, so you can simply pull the tool out and reset the curl. Full disclosure: It feels a bit heavier than your standard curling iron, but you get used to it!

Once your section of hair is fed into the tool, all you have to do is hold it in place until it beeps a few times (after just seconds!) and pull the tool out to release a perfectly curled, silky piece of hair. There is actual volcanic lava (yes, you read that right) added into the ceramic, which retains moisture and makes the heat less damaging to hair.

I have to admit, I was beyond impressed and satisfied with the curls this hair tool created. It took less than 15 minutes to style all of my hair (and I have a lots of hair!) and it was super easy to style pieces in the back, too. The hot portion of the tool is protected, so you'll never run the risk of getting a burn on your skin, which makes this a perfect starter tool for teens, too. (Ahem, where was this when my mom was styling my hair with those velcro rollers?!)

So if you're looking for bouncy, salon-perfect curls that will last — this tool is for you. I'm seriously obsessed with it (just call me Lava Lady!) and I'm certain you will be, too.
