As much as we long for the day when the Victoria's Secret Angels take to the runway in blood-red lipstick and a Dominatrix ponytail, we've come to love each year's iteration on the classic VS look: glowing skin, pounds of bronzer, and glossy waves. Celebrity makeup artist was behind this year's beauty look, which was actually inspired by one of the most iconic Angels of all time: Gisele Bündchen.
THE MAKEUP
"One of my inspirations for the look was inspired by the healthy, happy, naturally flawless beauty look of Gisele—she embodies that signature fresh, glowing Angel gorgeousness," says Tilbury. "I also wanted the makeup channel that Victoria’s Secret feeling! Victoria’s Secret is all about pure fun, joy and abandon...It is so incredible to see so many sexy, brilliant women sharing the power of makeup with the world."
After prepping and thoroughly dousing the models' skin in moisturizer, Tilbury and her team applied a light-reflective primer before using her sheer and glowy Light Wonder foundation. The key product is Tilbury's Filmstar Bronze & Glow, a contouring and highlighting palette that can carve out cheekbones from the most cheekboneless among us. To amplify the cheeks even more, she mixed together her cream-based Beachsticks in Las Salinas and Ibiza to get a natural, sun-kissed flush.
On the lips, Tilbury applied her Lip Cheat Liner in Pillow Talk, a your-lips-but-better shade that can be applied just outside your natural lip line to fake fuller lips. On top she layered the Victoria's Secret Velvet Matte Lip Cream in Showstopper, a peachy nude.
THE HAIR
Hairstylist Anthony Turner for Conair called this year's Bombshell hair the "most undone it's ever been." He continues: "The inspiration is a gorgeous, healthy texture—it’s aspirational and the kind of hair everyone wants. At the same time, we’ve taken it downtown a bit for a very natural, real look. We are just making them a better version of themselves,” he says.
Anthony prepped the models' hair with serum and then used the InfinitiPRO by Conair 3Q Heatprotect Electronic Brushless Motor Styling Tool to dry. Next, starting from the mid-shaft down to the ends, he bent the hair away from the face with a flat iron and curling iron combo tool, the InfinitiPRO by Conair 2-in-1 Styler. Models had their hair pinned up in rollers until the last few moments before the runway to keep the "undone" curls as bouncy as possible.
THE NAILS
Lead nail artist Hien Pham for LeChat Nails painted either LeChat Dare to Wear Innocence or LeChat Dare to Wear Just Breathe to get a natural nail look that read more pink than nude. The PINK models wore a "playful, bubblegum hue" with two coats of LeChat Dare to Wear True Honesty.
THE FRAGRANCE
It wouldn't be a VS show without a signature scent. Every Angel hit the runway with a spritz of Victoria's Secret LOVE Star Fragrance. The fruity and sweet scent opens with apple and white lily, then develops with a note literally called Night Air, and finishes with the scent of Dark Rum. Victoria's Secret calls it "the after after party. Bad behavior and good champagne,"—we call it just the right balance of overtly sweet and sexy.
