Ariana Grande without her ponytail? We almost can't picture it—but the singer just debuted her shortest haircut ever on Instagram, and that could mean she's saying "thank you, next" to her iconic hairstyle. Following her split from Pete Davidson, Grande shared a snap of herself wearing what appears to be a shoulder-grazing lob.

This isn't the first time Grande has dramatically changed her hair this year. Her hair has been gray, platinum blonde, and pink over the span of the last several months as she did promotion for her album Sweetener.

Grande credited hairstylist Chris Appleton, who also works with Kim Kardashian West and Jennifer Lopez, for coloring her hair earlier this year.

The singer's new shoulder-grazing lob is likely the result of removed extensions, but the new length could be tricky to slick-back into a snatched ponytail. Only time will tell if this hair change marks a new beauty era for Grande, who just recently moved on from a dramatic and extremely personal year.

Earlier this month, singer Camila Cabello Tweeted at Grande about how she deals with wearing her signature ponytail all the time. She wrote: "I just did a high ponytail for the first time and it is literally pulling on my BRAIN ITS SO PAINFUL HOW DO YOU DO IT." The singer responded: "well u actually have hair so that prolly makes it a lil more painful ..... nah jk i’m in constant pain always and don’t care at all."

Grande's short new chop will hopefully relieve some of the pain. If not, there's always Advil, Cabello.
