How did we live before concealer? It's a highly-pigmented product that we love to use to neutralize any blemishes on the skin or cover dark circles under the eyes. It can effortlessly provide the appearance of a flawless complexion in a flash, so it's an absolute essential for your makeup kit.

But to properly apply this product, it's best to keep a few different concealer brushes in your arsenal!

There are two schools of thought when it comes to applying concealer: putting concealer on first to neutralize imperfections before foundation (almost like priming a wall before you paint it) or doing foundation first. Foundation is typically less pigmented than concealer, so we think it makes sense to do that first and then address any problem areas that have shown through with concealer.

You'll likely be concealing two areas the most, dark circles under the eyes and any blemishes or spots on the skin. For dark circles, we recommend selecting a concealer that has an orange or yellow base to counteract any blue or purple under the eyes. (We love the Laura Mercier Secret Concealer for this!) For redness, you can grab a green concealer to help cancel out that rosy tone. Regular flesh-tone concealers work as well, especially for spots that are not too severe.

In addition to selecting the perfect concealer, you need to find the right concealer brush to pair with it to fit your needs.
