Miley Cyrus is no stranger to dramatic haircuts—remember the career-defining pixie?—but her latest hair transformation was a huge surprise. The newly-married Cyrus visited Sally Hershberger salon to get her hair transformed into the familiar style of her Disney character Hannah Montana, bangs and all.
"You know guys it was so hard going back and forth I just decided to be Hannah forever," Cyrus said in a clip she posted to her Instagram Stories.
Cyrus seemed to love the new cut, posting a series of goofy selfies and videos from the salon chair. With her new style blown-out straight, her hair seemed long enough to credit to extensions. But the artist made it clear that the style was all her natural hair.
On the way home from the salon, Cyrus sang a few of her hits from her time as Hannah Montana, including "Best of Both Worlds":
Cyrus has been celebrating the 13th anniversary of her iconic Disney character on social media for the last week. On the show, Cyrus switched back and forth between her natural long and curly brown hair and the honey-blonde wig she used on stage as her Hannah Montana persona.
Cyrus went fully blonde for the first time back in 2012, a few months before she tapped hairstylist Chris McMillan to give her the pixie cut seen 'round the world.
Cyrus has stayed blonde since 2012, letting her pixie cut grow-out longer and longer until the length it's at today. Back in 2016, Cyrus went on a Facebook rant about the perils of bleaching her own hair and how hair can impact our self image. "Bleached my fucking natural healthy a$$ hair rebelling out of boredom while dealing with a consecutive amount of time off on the Woody project ( 2 months ago)! Sitting in a random apartment with nothing to do but smoke weed (which I should've just appreciated) and fuck with my hair obvi, something inside told me I'd regret it.... That hair color comes in a box (well maybe mine) therefore it's available to purchase and what grows from my scalp naturally is mine and and only mine!!!" she wrote at the time.
Cyrus continued: "PPS this isn't to discredit hair cuts/color as a tool and creative way to express yourself!!!! So if a change is something that feels right to you - fucking DO IT! Don't over think it because in the end it is fucking hair and nothing you do is detrimental and will just be a new chapter for you ❤️ my life is done chronologically in hair styles lol !!!! 👩👧👦👵"
