It's a truth universally acknowledged that the warmer the temperature, the lighter the hair strands, and blonde has always been the go-to summer hair color for those wanting to spice up their look. Serena Williams, whose hair is almost always a rich honey blonde shade, squeezed in a major hair transformation following her Wimbledon loss and debuted an even lighter, soft blonde shade that deserves all the awards.

Williams recently covered Sports Illustrated Fashionable 50 issue and stepped out to attend the launch of the cover in a neutral toned outfit consisting of a cream tank and a tan patent leather midi skirt. But, there was a particular glow radiating from the tennis superstar and it's all thanks to her golden locks—or her hairstylist Vernon Francois, really.

If there's anything that comes natural to Serena Williams, it's tennis and fashion. "My whole career has been really about tennis and fashion," she told SI. "I always try to make a statement when I walk out on the court—to be bold and to be unique and to kind of transcend. I always try to send the message of just being confident and being fierce.”
