• The first pictures of Angelina Jolie on the set of Marvel's Eternals have been released, revealing one brunette-turned-platinum-blonde actress.
  • Her character, Thena, in the original comics also appeared as a blonde.
  • Jolie's induction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe was announced at San Diego's Comic-Con last July.

Update 10/2: On the set of Eternals, Angelina Jolie wore a blonde wig made by Gretchen Evans, which was then colored by Blane Dowling and styled by Adruitha Lee, who won an Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling in 2014.

Original: If we know anything about Angelina Jolie, it's that she knows how to commit to a role.

From Maleficent, with those sharp fangs and pointed cheekbones, to Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, with an intense training and kickboxing regimen, it's hard to conceive of an actress more dedicated than she. Now, Marvel's forthcoming film about a group of powerful immortals, aptly titled Eternals, has joined Jolie's mix.

Photos from the set of Eternals reveal the actress working knee-deep in a body of water, her character ostensibly scattering ashes. And, oh yeah, she went platinum blonde.

It may come as no surprise to most Marvel fanatics that Jolie's brown locks have turned golden, considering that her character, Thena, is also a blonde in the comics. Still, seeing the seminal actress with blonde hair is a welcome change. (And it's definitely less work than wearing prosthetic cheekbones everyday.)

Marvel hired a star-studded cast to feature in its next MCU project. Other cast members include Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, and Kumail Nanjiani. And, for those Game of Thrones fans looking to project their obsessions onto a different fantasy series, the hiring of Winterfell's Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Richard Madden (Robb Stark) may help ease the transition.
