Paris has gone from the City of Lights to the city of "Find your light!" thanks to these major catwalk beauty moments. Some of the looks may be pure theatrics, but there's plenty of everyday glamour to embrace, too, especially with these pro tips.
Christian Dior
How to create hair and makeup that shines by itself or underneath a giant hat? After several seasons of Dior’s berets, buckets, and visors, Peter Philips and Guido Palau have it down. For hair, Palau made tight pigtail braids “for a youthful naiveté and a slight romance”—and noticeable style under les chapeaux!—while Philips went for “a toned-down version of a French woman’s classic eyeliner,” because French Girl Beauty is éternelle.

Koché
“Normally, it would be glamorous,” says M.A.C’s Terry Barberon, but his smoky eye and red lip are a little more lived-in than those on the red carpet. You can achieve the effect with a single eye pencil, applied precisely around the las line and then smudged and blurred further out in the corners and lid. As for the lip, the key is to gently press the pigment with your finger, allowing it to blot instantly and also faster for more dimension. (Which basically means the color looks ever-so-slightly blurred on your mouth.)
Get the Makeup: M.A.C Retro Matte Liquid Lip Color is hard to beat.
Get the Hair: We like TRESemme's Beauty-Full Volume Flexible Finish hairspray to pump-up the volume but keep strands in check.
Balmain
Kylie! Catwalks! Magic! There are multiple winners from this backstage makeup collaboration, which pairs the youngest Jenner with designer Olivier Roustieg for a Calabasas wash of color and shimmer. Inspired by Kylie’s 2019 Grammy’s look—created by Balmain, of course—the beauty here is modern and fun, and naturally, comes with its very own Lip Kit. (It’s called “Paris.”)

Guy Laroche
“It’s a very serious makeup moment for this show!” said Israeli makeup artist Netta Szekely backstage in Paris. “It’s all about a smoky eye but we’re using a different technique to make it blown out and huge.” Szekely layered shadow and stick foundation to play up the dimension and texture of the eye. “Imagine the powder clinging onto that cream and creating depth. It’s really beautiful, built, and layered on.” She calls the effect “Melted caramel makeup.”

Virgil Abloh’s new Meteor Bags cannot hold this season’s “meteor makeup” because they’re full of giant holes. (Really.) But you can follow makeup artist Farah Homidi’s lead and stash some Weleda Renewing Cream in your refrigerator instead for glowy, out-of-this-world skin. A few drops of foundation mixed into lip gloss add extra moonshine—and if you want the full runway effect, dab some loose silver glitter across your eyelids and the bridge of your nose to recreate Gigi Hadid’s finished look.
If you buy one thing: M.A.C Lip Glass in Clear, which can also be dabbed on the eyes for shiny, glazed lids.
Lanvin
“No Makeup” makeup is tough to pull off, but Diane Kendal is the expert, having created the #IWokeUpLikeThis vibes for countless Cool Girls like Jennifer Lawrence and Zoe Kravitz. Backstage at Lanvin, she referenced Captain Nemo, a French cartoon character from the '70s. “He had fantastic dreams, so the look that came from him was very ethereal and dreamy,” she says.

There’s a reason black kohl eyeliner and loose, wavy hair keep happening on catwalks, and that reason is, they’re awesome. Hedi Slimane agrees—as he should, since he helped invent the melted boho look of the early aughts at Dior Homme, pushed it further at Saint Laurent, and now…well, see for yourself. These girls are living their best lives in smudged eyeliner and swingy hair, as were front-row guests Margaret Qualley (age 24) and Carla Bruni (age 51).
Get the makeup: Try Urban Decay's 24/7 eye pencil for a smudge that stays put.

Thom Browne
Listen, there’s nothing practical here, so instead of trying to “get the look,” let’s just appreciate this glorious mix of Marie Antoinette and Phyllis Neffler from Troop Beverly Hills, who would have surely (and triumphantly) sported this OTT hair and makeup to a school fundraiser…or maybe just to Target.
If you buy one thing: Try one of Thom Browne’s six new fragrances, out later this month, which smell like Wonderland but don't require a powdered wig.
Valentino
Pat McGrath gets to use the word “divine” as much as she wants, because this gilded eye makeup is nothing short of heavenly. Though it may be too armored for everyday life, a deep sweep of her new Nocturnal Nirvana palette emulates the gold shine without dangling carats. Guido Palau continued the halo effect on the hair, with tight braids and floaty hair worn loose and parted in the middle.

Giambattista Valli
"Natural beauty" is quite a buzzword, but Isamaya Ffrench went literal with giant (and very real) floral "masks" on many Valli muses. (The petals were applied one by one, using lash glue or spirit gum.) On the eyes and lids came a touch of M.A.C Lipglass for a dewy, almost drippy, effect.
