Before we get into the specs, think about how little straighteners have changed over the years. Sure, they may have gotten sleeker, but even grade-A ceramic plates still cause some frying issues in our hair. Well, Dyson heard our hairy woes loud and clear, because their new design actually flexes with your hair instead of working against it. This device, which was 7 years in the making, swaps ceramic plates — gasp — for a manganese copper alloy version. What does that mean? It means that the plates on this straightener have increased durability, heat conduction, and ... they're flexible!
That's right — the plates bend with your hair, so you can evenly distribute tension to heat and style your strands, creating a more precise look. According to a press release from Dyson, this innovative technology also allows users to reduce heat-styling damage by a whopping 50%.
Other tech specs to take note of: The Corrale has only three heat settings, beginning at 330°F and topping off at 410°. But don't let the lower heat temps fool you. During a media demonstration, stylist Jon Reyman was able to pass through type 4C hair (as in, textured natural coils) with ease and completely straighten the strands in a mere singular stroke, proving that this device works like a pro. Plus, the Corrale has a cordless feature, which is a first for Dyson hairstyling devices.
