There are a lot of cool things out there that make us wonder — do they really work? In our I Tried It series, we set out to use them in the real world and have determined that, in fact, they really do.

On Trial: Supergoop! Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40

The Tester: Jennifer Hussein, beauty editor with a major sunscreen obsession.

The Brief: Let's all take a moment to acknowledge the fact that sunscreen exists for a very important reason: it helps prevent skin cancer, which is why you should be using it on a daily basis.

But not all sunscreens are created equal. There are those that have an unpleasant, greasy feel, and others that seem to cause breakouts every time we use them. And, if you have a deeper skin tone, you may have experienced some formulas that give you a white cast and an ashy finish — again, not fun.

Luckily, Supergoop!, the one brand that has found a way to make sunscreen sexy, recently released their Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40, and every beauty editor and influencer alike can't seem to stop talking about it. Its formula protects skin not only from UVA/UVB rays, but also from the blue light rays that tech devices emit.

I'm a major Supergoop! fan, but I was actually a little skeptical about this launch at first. In my brain, dewy = greasy. But I was very pleasantly surprised with the formula: It's tinted, which is a major plus for when I want to counteract any redness, there's also a light, dewy (not greasy!) shimmer to it, and its consistency is actually pretty light.

Once I dabbed it on my skin, it felt like a light, quick-absorbing primer, and it left a radiant finish that made me glow, not shine. Plus, I didn't need to put on layers of makeup over it. Just a pop of eyeshadow, some mascara, highlighter (to really make the glow pop), and blush was all I needed to step out. It was instant obsession.

But the initial application was only half of the test — does this formula also keep the glow going all day long? Since you're supposed to reapply sunscreen throughout the day, I expected the formula to fade quickly.

However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that even if I reapplied another SPF, the shimmery glow stayed strong and gave my skin a healthy sheen, from the minute I put it on to the second I washed it off.

Closing Argument: Whether you're a sunscreen obsessive, or you're a little more reluctant, you'll definitely appreciate the dewy perfection of this formula. Trust me: The Supergoop! Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40 will make you break up with your ultra matte SPF for good.
