There are a lot of cool things out there that make us wonder — do they really work? In our I Tried It series, we set out to use them in the real world and have determined that, in fact, they really do.

On Trial: Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Lip Pop

Tester: Jennifer Hussein, lip-care obsessed beauty editor

The Brief: Some people have naturally perfect pouts, but most of us have to manifest them by following a strict daily lip-care routine. I know, we already have intense haircare, skincare, and even nail-care routines, so why would we want to tack yet another thing onto our daily beauty list? But trust me — your lips will thank you for a little bit of TLC.

Take my lips, for example. I've been biologically cursed bestowed with lips that lean on the thinner side of the spectrum. I've tried about everything to give them a poutier look: lip-plumping glosses, overlining, I'm even an avid devotee to lip filler. But since my dermatologist's office is still closed for the time being, I realized I had to find another way to give my lips a smoother, fuller finish at home.

That's when Glow Recipe's Watermelon Glow Lip Pop stepped into my life, and onto my lips. This little lip balm has sparkling reviews on Sephora, plus it's garnered a few thumbs-ups from beauty editors over at Allure and POPSUGAR.

Think of this little lippie as your one-stop-shop for any of your lips' needs: It's filled with watermelon extract to promote cellular turnover, hydrate, and soften your lips. Plus, this fruit-flavored lip balm contains coconut flower sugar to add an extra boost of physical exfoliation, while botanically derived alpha hydroxy acids go deep into your lips to rid them of any lingering dead skin cells for a smoother, velvety finish.

The best part is that this lip balm also has a lovely universal pink tint that gives your lips a flushed, "just ate a popsicle" finish. So, it sounds all great on paper, but how does it perform?

After swiping this lip balm on every 5 minutes for the past month, I can say this lippie has a top spot in my beauty routine. It instantly glides onto lips as it gently scrubs. Unlike many other lip balms I've tried, this one actually absorbs into your lips without leaving them feeling tacky, goopy, or over-dried. It also leaves behind a cute and delicate pink tint behind, so I can go lipstick-free for the day if I want to.

Here's another cool thing about Glow Recipe: They're an independent beauty brand run by the two founders, who are also women of color — beauty veterans Christine Chang and Sarah Lee — and they have been at the forefront of Black Lives Matter advocacy within the beauty industry.

On top of donating $10K to the Black Visions Collective, Glow Recipe has been sharing resources on their Instagram account to help educate, inform, and guide their followers on how to help in the fight for racial equality. Plus, they have also launched a mentorship program for small Black-owned businesses, which you can check out here — because what's more beautiful than advocacy for human rights?

Closing Argument: If you want a smoother, happier pout, then grab this lip balm. It may be slightly pricier than most, but trust me — once you swipe this one on, you'll never want to turn back to your old lip product.
