There are a lot of cool things out there that make us wonder — do they really work? In our I Tried It series, we set out to use them in the real world and have determined that, in fact, they really do.

On Trial: Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Body Scrub

Tester: Jennifer Hussein, beauty editor and owner of a delicate rump

The Brief: I have a medium-sized butt and I cannot lie. And with that being said, my bum does have a few unsightly issues — cellulite and buttne is a thing!

So when the going gets tough on my derriere, I whip out the heavy artillery: body scrubs, body washes that work overtime to unclog my booty pores, even butt masks (yes, they're a thing). But, nothing has really worked to give my bottom the "oomph" it needs to smooth out the kinks.

Then, Sol de Janeiro released the body scrub that solved all of my issues: the Bum Bum Body Scrub. In case you didn’t know, Sol de Janeiro is famed for its booty-enhancing products, such as the butt-favorite Brazilian Bum Bum Cream — a cream that leaves your backside silky-smooth and hydrated, and also a favorite in my beauty routine — which is why I was very quick to try this out.

I get it, there are tons of body scrubs out there at this point, so what makes this one stand out? Well, unlike other scrubs that use harsh exfoliators like coffee grounds or salt, this one uses sugar crystals that gradually dissolve as you scrub, plus finely ground cupuaçu seeds for an effective scrub-down that won't leave your butt with micro-tears or irritation. Plus, hydrating coconut oil softens your tush while caffeine-packed guarana helps firm the skin.

Since this scrub is made to be used on your entire body, I went to town on my most ingrown-hair-prone areas: my armpits, thighs, and booty. You can definitely feel the scrubbing power of the sugar and cupuaçu seeds, but it's gentler than many other body scrubs I've tried. Plus, the sugar slowly melts away, turning the formula into a silky, luxurious in-shower moisturizer thanks to the addition of coconut oil. Rinsing off was a breeze, and it doesn't feel too slimy or thick to wash off.

Once I stepped out of the shower, I felt freshly cleansed and my skin felt velvety-smooth to the touch, plus I smelled like the brand's delectable Cheirosa ’62 fragrance (which you can now buy as a perfume, by the way).

Closing Argument: I've been using this scrub for a month, and I can see a major difference in the appearance of my tuchus. It feels smoother, my buttne-inducing ingrown hair issue has definitely been reduced, and my posterior feels ready to take on the teeniest of bikinis. If you're looking to give your booty the pampering it deserves, then stock up on this scrub — believe me, you won't regret it.
