Retinol is a tricky ingredient. We all know how crucial a role it plays in anti-aging, but we've also heard it's drying, irritating, makes skin more susceptible to sunburn (a myth, as clinical studies have shown that while the ingredient itself is sensitive to sunlight—the reason it comes in opaque packaging—it won't make you any more sensitive to it than an exfoliator would so long as you apply sunscreen), and isn't safe for pregnant women (true). Despite knowing better, it can seem easier to skip sometimes, which is why I didn't make it a part of my daily skin care routine until this product came along and gave me no excuse.

One, because I'm unable to resist an oil and anyone who has ever tried Sunday Riley's can attest to their seriously transformative, make-your-skin-glow-like-never-before powers (Stella McCartney swears by them); two, because this one makes retinol application completely straightforward and novel at the same time; three, because the oil itself is bright blue and that's so much more fun. Just apply a few drops on cleansed skin as your last step in the evening and the potent trans-retinol ester will work to fight fine lines and loss of elasticity while the blend of calming essential oils (Blue Tansy, Chamomile, avocado seed oil) will keep redness and irritation at bay. Easy, right?
