There's a crop of Hollywood actresses, models, and entertainers who, beyond their mesmerizing talents, seem to be Benjamin Button-ing their way through life. Here, learn the anti-aging routines of some of our favorite faces in particular, and see the gorgeous transition from then to now.
Jennifer Aniston
Age: 46
The actress' complexion somehow seems to glow even more than it did during her Friends days—but she insists that it's actually because she didn't go the surgery route. "There is this pressure in Hollywood to be ageless," she said in a recent interview with Bobbi Brown. "I think what I have been witness to, is seeing women trying to stay ageless with what they are doing to themselves. I am grateful to learn from their mistakes, because I am not injecting s**t into my face… I see them and my heart breaks."
Instead, Aniston is a huge advocate of lasers and LED light therapy, which allegedly tighten facial muscles in a non-invasive way. She also credits high quality skin products, drinking a lot of water, getting a decent amount of shut-eye, and good genes.
Jennifer Lopez
Age: 45
We think J.Lo is actually aging backwards. And if her impossibly chiseled abs are any indication, staying in killer shape is a huge factor. For that, Lopez credits the Tracy Anderson Method, and she makes working out a priority. She's also so committed to her diet that she recently launched BodyLab, a wellness brand that centers around protein shakes and supplements. And finally, that skin! Lopez just follows a simple regimen of anti-aging creams and, like just about everyone else, advises to wash off your makeup before bed.
Iman
Age: 59
This industry icon looks almost exactly the same as she did when she burst onto the scene in the '70s, but she has a secret for that: genetics. "My father is 80 but looks 40," she told New York in 2011. "So I've inherited that." Still, the Somalian stunner admits that keeping her body as ageless as her face is more of a challenge. She recently told Harper's Bazaar that she starts off every day with a shake, and likes to mix up her fitness regime with yoga, cardio, and weights. She also has a thing for SK-II sheet masks (don't we all?), and gets plenty of sleep—it's lights out for her and husband David Bowie by 11:30 every night.
Julianne Moore
Age: 54
The porcelain-skinned actress holds no judgment about the anti-aging procedures of many of her Hollywood peers—but personally prefers to bypass drastic measures herself. "I'd like to think that I can age as naturally as possible," she recently told The Edit. "I don't want to come out condemning anything anybody does, because I think that all of these things can contribute to making people feel better about themselves, and that's great. But I mean, we're not going to live forever." For her own regime, Moore tries to avoid dairy, sugar, and alcohol as much as possible—but certainly not as a hard-and-fast rule. She is a regular at the yoga studio, however, and works with a trainer, "doing light weights and a lot of jumping around." As for that glowing complexion, Moore divulged to Redbook that she has worn SPF daily since age 23, and uses a face oil every morning. (She's also a spokesperson for L'Oréal Paris.)
Halle Berry
Age: 48
Is it just us, or does Halle Berry have a case of the Benjamin Buttons? Fortunately, the actress is open about her regime. Her secret? To seek professional help rather than spend your hard-earned cash on products you might not need. "Women in their twenties are turning to anti-aging products too soon instead of getting help from aestheticians," she said in a recent interview with Marie Claire UK, divulging that she visits her facialist at skincare clinic Kinara four times a year. "I haven't had a need yet for technical creams so I keep it very simple and just cleanse, tone, and moisturize." She also abstains from sugar whenever possible, calling it "poison." As for that insane, still Catwoman-worthy physique, Berry relies on cardio, light weights, and exercises using her own body weight.
Angelina Jolie
Age: 40
The actress, director, and honorary dame doesn't scrimp when it comes to taking care of herself. In order to maintain her radiant visage, she relies on smearing caviar on her face—La Prairie's Skin Caviar, that is, which really does contain fish eggs and runs at $710 a pop. As for her diet, she tried veganism for a while, only to find that "it almost killed her"—the nutritional changes weren't right for her body. (Husband Brad Pitt remains committed to the lifestyle.) Instead, she opts for eating a diet rich in ancient grains, and while she isn't a fan of Hollywood's yoga craze, she does kickboxing and cardio exercises with a trainer.
Lisa Bonet
Age: 47
Not every forty-something can say that she and her 26-year-old daughter are doppelgangers, but Bonet and Zoë Kravitz are undeniably twins lately. What keeps the actress looking so good? We're not totally sure, since she stays pretty quiet about her beauty regime. But perhaps her plant-based diet plays a role—Bonet is vegan.
Christy Turlington
Age: 46
"Everybody is so anti-aging, but I don't want to look younger than I am," Christy Turlington revealed to ELLE earlier this year. "Our face is a map of our life; the more that's there, the better." It's a refreshing outlook for sure—but let's face it, the supermodel and philanthropist has never looked better. Still, perhaps she has this kind of zen, que sera sera attitude to thank: Turlington is an avid yogi and runs marathons, but prefers an everything-in-moderation approach to her diet.
Cindy Crawford
Age: 49
Sure, Cindy Crawford is obviously in the business of looking good—but it's been almost 30 years since she was a runway regular, and the mom of two somehow looks almost exactly the same. But if you think the supermodel has a mysterious, complicated regime (or, ya know, an elixir) up her sleeve, think again. "The secret is that there's no secret," she recently told Violet Grey. "Do all the stuff we know: Don't smoke, get enough sleep, drink plenty of water, find what makes you happy." She also swears by Chinese medicine, a morning superfood smoothie, and her skincare line, Meaningful Beauty. Another winning tip? Patience. "When a 35-year-old starts taking care of her skin, she won't look different. It's when you're my age that you start seeing the payoff," she says.
Helen Mirren
Age: 69
"Is she a wizard?" Liz Lemon asks incredulously of Helen Mirren's bikini body in season 4 of 30 Rock. And trust us, Tina Fey, we're with you—the 69-year-old Mirren never ceases to awe us with her age-defying looks, whether she's donning a little swimsuit or a red carpet gown. We know that one of her secrets has to be confidence, but Mirren also relies on a worry-free attitude. "My mother told me an amazingly wise thing that I've found to be true, which is that you should never worry about getting older," she told The Mirror in 2011. "Because an amazing thing happens. As you reach each age you find, like a miracle, you've got the weapons, or tools, to deal with it... [And,], you've realized you're not the only person in the world, and beauty's not the most important thing. To be obsessed by your looks is pathetic." That being said, Mirren does rely on a few tricks to take care of herself: sleep, for one. "When I'm working hard, I don't party—I just go to bed," she said. As for those great legs: "Four-inch platform heels give you great height and make your legs look unbelievably long. I used to get them in stripper shops but now you can buy them everywhere." Well, then...
Naomi Campbell
Age: 45
Campbell has been stomping the runways for over 20 years—she closed Zac Posen's catwalk in a show-stopping burgundy gown earlier this year. Her career seems to have never slowed down, and Campbell keeps her energy going with a very healthy, vegetarian diet, she told us last year. As for beauty, she's undoubtedly picked up some major insider tips throughout the past couple of decades, but she recently told TODAY that she starts from the inside out. "First thing in the morning, it's warm water with lime juice," she said. She chases that with a green juice. She's also all about yoga and Pilates, and keeps her skin smooth with moisturizer.
Sandra Bullock
Age: 50
The actress certainly has a rockin' bod, but her secret to that is good old-fashioned hard work: She's been spotted doing Pilates, kick-boxing, and weight-training up to six days a week. And that seventh day isn't just for rest, but for indulging—Bullock allots herself one cheat day from a more stringent, healthy diet. As for her glowing complexion, the actress tries to stay out of the sun, but it also helps that she's the face of Artistry, a luxury skincare line. (It's pricy, but clearly effective.)
Robin Wright
Age: 49
It's been a whole 30 years since she got her start on Santa Barbara (and 27 since we saw her as Princess Buttercup in The Princess Bride, believe it or not), yet when we watch Robin Wright now as the cool and calculating Claire Underwood on House of Cards, we can't help but be transfixed by her ageless beauty. Fortunately, the actress has said that she "ain't hiding anything" when it comes to her anti-aging routine. She recently told The Telegraph that she relies on the "tiniest sprinkle" of Botox twice a year. In between, HoC makeup artist Tricia Sawyer uses Orlane's Anti-Aging Oxygenating skincare line to keep Wright's complexion refreshed during filming. As for her top-form physique, Wright is all about Zumba, and has touted the 21-day Reset Boost Cleanse—based on a diet of completely unprocessed foods—as her detox diet of choice.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Age: 42
The actress is as outspoken about her beauty and health regime as she is about, well, everything else. A big proponent of eating clean, Paltrow has dabbled in detoxes, a gluten-free diet, and veganism, but most consistently sticks to a rule of eating whole foods and taking supplements (though she famously allows herself a Diet Coke and a cigarette once a week). She's also an avid exerciser, and is responsible for popularizing the Tracy Anderson Method. Her makeup and skincare regime, however, is decidedly less complicated: Paltrow has credited exfoliation, coconut oil, and lots of water for her smooth complexion. (But never Botox—she says it made her look "crazy.") If you have any other questions, we recommend subscribing to Goop, which is usually where Gwynnie shares her secrets.
Diane Lane
Age: 50
A Neutrogena spokesmodel, the actress hasn't ruled out surgery—but she has admitted that she's "too chicken" to try it thus far. One slightly frightening procedure she is a fan of, however, is needling: an "acupuncture facelift" that involves rolling tiny, hair-like needles across the face in order to stimulate collagen production. Aside from that, Lane credits yoga and getting plenty of sleep for her age-defying looks.
Jessica Lange
Age: 66
American Horror Story basically ages us each time we watch it, but the same can't be said for its Emmy-winning star. Lange has matured as gracefully as her 38-year, illustrious career (which kicked off with her turn in King Kong in 1976). Unfortunately for us, the actress has remained tight-lipped about her regime. (But since she was recently dubbed the face of Marc Jacobs Beauty, we might assume she favors products from the line.)
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Age: 54
She's one of our favorite funny ladies (ever), and the Veep star's take on her age is just as hilarious as could be expected—not to mention refreshing. When Health magazine asked her about her foremost secret to body confidence, Louis-Dreyfus replied, "Getting older. It's like, 'Yeah, this is who I am, fuck off,' as opposed to, 'This is who I am, I'm sorry.' You know, there's something about getting older and owning who you are that is a good thing." Hear, hear. But while having a sense of humor certainly helps ("I try to push the worry down and pull the Spanx up!"), the actress also takes care of herself without too much worry. She likes to hike with her husband, swears equally by La Prairie and Aquaphor, and is "scared" of plastic surgery. "You can only fight age so hard," she told Harper's Bazaar in 2008. "Then you just have to stand up straight and be graceful. It's just about confidence, don't you figure?"
Julia Ormond
Age: 50
We've been mesmerized with Ormond's romantic beauty since Legends of the Fall, but while we long to know how she has managed to age so gracefully and naturally amidst the industry famous for its plastic surgery, the actress has remained mostly mum on the subject. However, she has talked about how evading the spotlight has boded well for her mental health—and that in her career, she's happy to embrace her age. "So much of the business is based on hitting a commercial note that's around youth," she told The Daily Mail in 2011. "When you are at the age when you feel you can deliver something more easily because you're more experienced, there is less of it."
